First UKIP MP Douglas Carswell to take Westminster seat

The first elected UKIP MP Douglas Carswell is to take his seat in the House of Commons.

He won the Essex seat of Clacton after defecting from the Tories to UKIP.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage is predicting further defections to his party.
