Clacton by-election: UKIP's Douglas Carswell 'humbled' by win

The winner of the Clacton by-election has said he is "humbled and bowled over" to become UKIP's first elected MP.

Douglas Carswell, who defected from the Conservatives, knocked his old party, which enjoyed a 12,068 majority at the 2010 election, into second place.

He denied that he would be frozen out by his former party colleagues in Westminster, insisting he would work with them "for change".
