Mums on term-time holiday fines: 'It's diabolical'

The Local Government Association, which represents councils across the country, says it is time to scrap a ban that stops parents in England taking children out of school for holidays during term-time. It says the costs of holidays during school breaks can be more than double the standard price.

5 live Breakfast reporter Matt Wright went to a primary school in Salford to ask parents there what they thought of the ban.

One mum said: "I took them away last year, they missed four days of school and I got fined £60 for each one of them. I couldn't afford to pay it so the the bailiffs came to my house."
