Disability survey: Poor access venues 'losing business'

Businesses which do not provide access for disabled people are turning away up to £200bn in lost revenue, the disabilities minister has warned.

Mark Harper also highlighted the legal obligation of shops and restaurants to make "reasonable adjustments" to make their businesses accessible.

His comments follow the largest ever audit of its kind in the UK which found that thousands of venues had failed to adapt their premises, with a fifth of shops excluding wheelchair users.
