School league tables: More schools fail to make grade
The number of under-performing state secondary schools in England has more than doubled in a year following changes made to the way they are assessed.
League tables show 330 schools failed to reach the benchmark of 40% of pupils getting five good GCSEs including maths and English, up from 154 last year.
It comes after ministers toughened exams and excluded re-sits and some vocational qualifications from performance tables.
