Islamic State conflict: First Briton killed fighting IS

A former Royal Marine has become the first Briton to be killed while fighting alongside Kurdish forces against Islamic State (IS) in Syria, the BBC has learned.

The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) named him as Konstandinos Erik Scurfield, from Barnsley.

Fellow western volunteer fighters have paid tribute to him on social media.

James Reynolds reports.
