Met police apologises over failure to inform Syria girls' families

The Metropolitan Police has apologised for failing to communicate more directly with the families of three schoolgirls thought to have travelled to Syria.

The police and families gave evidence to a parliamentary committee about the girls' departure.

Police suggested that the girls may have stolen jewellery to fund their journey.
