British intelligence not illegally intercepting messages

An inquiry into Britain's intelligence agencies has concluded that they are not acting illegally when they intercept thousands of private communications every day.

The Intelligence and Security Committee does call for an overhaul of the law governing surveillance, to make it more transparent.

The investigation began after disclosures by Edward Snowden two years ago about the activities of British and American spies.
