Drivers losing millions in tax disc confusion, says AA

The AA estimates motorists are losing out to the tune of almost £40 million a year because of the way the new car tax disc system works.

The car tax disc was abolished just over six months ago, to try to save the government £7m in printing and administration costs.

The DVLA told the BBC that it disputes the AA's estimates of how much the change has cost motorists.
