Alton Towers victim 'fighting to avoid amputation'
One of the victims of the Alton Towers Smiler rollercoaster crash is battling to avoid amputation of her leg, her lawyer has told the BBC.
Vicky Balch, 20, of Lancashire, was trapped on the ride for more than four hours, and later underwent surgery for leg injuries.
Paul Paxton, head of the personal injury department at Stewarts Law, represents a number of the crash victims.
He told the BBC: "Vicky has some very nasty leg injuries and I think it's fair to say that she is fighting... to survive, with one of the legs, to avoid an amputation. She's got some difficult times ahead... she's battling very hard."
