Birmingham's New Street station reopens after £750m refit

New Street station and Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham is set to fully reopen, after a £750m makeover.

The five-year project saw the demolition of the Stephenson Tower, along with the removal of 6,000 tonnes of concrete in order to increase the station's capacity.

Serving 170,000 passengers a day, New Street is the busiest station outside of London.

Richard Westcott reports.
