South America travel ban 'a precautionary approach'
The transport secretary says the government is banning UK-bound arrivals from South America and Portugal because it doesn't want to "trip up at this late stage" in its duel with Covid.
Grant Shapps says the ban will come into force, from 04:00 GMT on Friday, as a "precautionary" measure.
He spoke to BBC political correspondent Chris Mason.
