Infection level 'very, very high' and 'extremely precarious' - Prof Whitty
The chief medical officer has warned that the Covid-19 infection rate is still dangerously high, at a Downing St news briefing.
Prof Chris Whitty added that although the infection rate was falling in some areas but it was not falling solidly and "it is very, very high".
He said the situation was extremely precarious and a very small change could mean it "taking off again from an extremely high base".
