Alfred Barnett: 'I'm no ruddy hero'

Alfred “Barney” Barnett joined the RAF after his mother’s house was bombed and he decided it was time to fight back.

He was a gunner on a Lancaster, although he could also fly the craft. Later he flew Whitleys and Wellington bombers.

He took part in Operation Manna dropping food to the starving in the Netherlands and later he was at the Nuremberg trials.
