Beavers experiment near Okehampton 'successful'

Two beavers which were introduced at a secret location near Okehampton in Devon have proved a success, Devon Wildlife Trust has said.

The trust said the aim of the three-year experiment is to see if the beavers can improve water quality and reduce flood risks by clearing scrub and trees and improving watercourses.

In just 12 months, the beavers have built a series of canals through the woodland, which they use to move wood around the secure site.
