East England's 'secret' role in Cuban Missile Crisis

In October 1962 RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire was home to the Vulcan bombers of the RAF's V Force.

But the role that it and RAF Harrington played in the Cuban Missile Crisis, where Soviet nuclear warheads were placed in Cuba, was kept secret at the time.

A group of aviation historians are collecting first-hand accounts of the Cuba crisis but they have made a remarkable discovery.

Some of the accounts do not match the versions on official files.

Inside Out is broadcast on BBC One Yorkshire and Lincolnshire at 19:30 BST on Monday, 15 October and BBC East on Monday, 22 October.
