New East Anglia bishop marks Brazil youth gathering

The new Roman Catholic Bishop of East Anglia elect, the Right Rev Alan Hopes, celebrated mass at Newmarket in Suffolk with young people off to Brazil for a world youth gathering.

They will be among three million young people from around the world who will be joined by the new pope.

Bishop Hopes, a former Church of England priest, is due to be installed as the fourth head of a diocese which covers Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
