Payday loan worries of new Bishop of Durham

The new Bishop of Durham has taken up the cause of his predecessor and come out against so-called payday loan companies.

The Right Reverend Paul Butler will take over the role recently vacated by now Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby early next year.

Bishop-designate Butler said he was concerned about the rise of payday loan firms and wanted to see more help for people struggling with their finances.

He pledged to work to fight poverty in the region and speak up for the area in the House of Lords.

Look North's Stephanie Cleasby spoke to him on a brief visit to Durham Cathedral.
