HS2 redress welcome in Staffordshire and Warwickshire
People living near the planned HS2 high-speed rail line in Staffordshire and Warwickshire have welcomed a series of new compensation schemes.
After a High Court challenge ruled the previous compensation offered was "unlawful", there are new measures to support areas blighted by HS2.
The government has announced three schemes for 'express' and voluntary purchases, along with cash payments of up to £30,000 to some homeowners whose property is blighted by the line.
Dan Byles, Conservative MP for North Warwickshire, welcomed the move but a further government consultation will run before all the schemes open to applications.
