RSPCA calls for courts to 'take animal abuse more seriously'
The RSPCA is calling for courts to take animal abuse cases more seriously after almost 100 people were convicted of neglect in the South East last year.
The charity's latest figures show that in Sussex, 14 people were convicted of animal cruelty in 2013, in Surrey there were 11 while in Kent, 65 people were found guilty - a 5% increase on 2012's figures.
Mark Sanders spoke to Karen Branagh, the new owner of a previously neglected dog called Florence, and RSPCA inspector Tony Woodley.
