Birmingham gets its first female bishop

The prime minister's office has announced a woman will be appointed Bishop of Aston, making her Birmingham's first female bishop.

The Reverend Anne Hollinghurst is currently a parish priest in St Albans, having previously worked in Manchester and Nottingham.

Speaking at Birmingham Library after the announcement, she described her appointment as "a joyful surprise".
