The hunt for counterfeit tobacco in the East Midlands

The East Midlands is one of the worst regions in the UK for the sale of illegal tobacco.

The crime costs the UK economy about £2.4bn a year and there is a concern it could be driving some legitimate small retailers out of business.

Trading Standards officers, with the help of the police, are treating the illicit cigarette trade as a priority.
