Wind satellite Aeolus set for testing before space launch
The first satellite laser designed to measure wind speeds across the planet is set to be launched into space.
Named Aeolus, it has been assembled at Airbus in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
Liz Seward, an engineer at the company, said the satellite would improve weather forecasts.
"It means it will be actual data rather than estimated data and that should feed into more accurate weather forecasts," she said.
The satellite will be tested in France before being launched.
