Free meals for Birmingham children during school holidays

A free meal service, called Holiday Kitchen, has been launched in Birmingham.

The aim is to ensure children get a nutritious meal during the school holidays.

Caroline Wolhuter, who runs the project for the Accord Group in Bordesley Green. said: "Food poverty when it goes on for a significant period of time means children are not getting the nutrition they need.

"It affects their concentration, their ability to learn and has wider economic problems later down the line."
