Muna and Ifrah Hassan to show FGM film at international summit

A new film about female genital mutilation (FGM) produced as a teaching aid by two student campaigners in Bristol is to be shown at an international summit.

Muna Hassan, 20, and her sister Ifrah, 19, were invited to present the film and associated lesson plans to the Department for International Development Youth Summit by the Prime Minister David Cameron.

The sisters began campaigning for education to end the practise of FGM when they were at high school in Bristol.

The film presents the dilemma of a schoolgirl whose friend's sister is going to be cut and the issues faced by the teacher the schoolgirl she confides in.

The pair hope to lobby the Education Secretary Michael Gove at the summit to include their film on the national curriculum.
