Lynne Featherstone on female genital mutilation in UK

Ministers said NHS hospitals will have to provide information on patients who have suffered from, or are at risk of, female genital mutilation (FGM).

Development Minister Lynne Featherstone said there were "20,000 girls at risk here", but government departments were now working together, and the UK was "close to its first prosecution".

Nimko Ali, who underwent FGM at the age of seven, said many of those at risk were primary school age, but added: "We are finally breaking the cycle".

They spoke to the Daily Politics' Vicki Young on the UN-sponsored International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation.
