Speed limit considered on Bodmin Moor to save livestock
Plans to create a 40mph speed limit right across a moor in Cornwall are being considered in a bid to reduce the amount of livestock deaths.
Speed restrictions were previously introduced in the nearby Pensilva area after 22 ponies died from being hit by vehicles in just one year.
Animal welfare experts said it drastically cut the number of pony deaths, prompting the new calls for a permanent 40mph limit across all of Bodmin Moor, which has speed limits of 60mph in some parts.
Cornwall Council said it had costed a feasibility study into the proposal.
