Parents celebrate Carlisle's Belah Park agreement
Parents who campaigned to save their local play park are celebrating after Carlisle City Council agreed not to remove the equipment.
The swings and slide at Belah Park were due to be taken down, along with the kit from 20 other playgrounds in the city as part of the council's plans to shave a quarter off its annual budget.
However, under a new plan of action, the council will provide public liability insurance and the community will be responsible for raising the money to look after, update and buy new equipment.
