Storm Desmond: Pupils use buses to avoid flood damage
Schoolchildren in Cumbria have started using a shuttle bus system to get around the devastation caused by Storm Desmond.
The main spine road through Lakeland, the A591, was eroded in floods at Dunmail Raise but now pupils are taking a bus to the site, walking on a makeshift path around the broken section of road and then boarding another bus on the other side.
Dozens of children attending schools in Keswick and Grasmere are now using the system and several said they were pleased to be able to continue their exam studies.
Nick Raymond from Cumbria County Council said it was vital to open temporary access along the route.
