Belper explorer Nigel Vardy returns from latest trek

An explorer who lost parts of his fingers and toes on an expedition 15 years ago has returned from a 100-mile trek across Greenland.

Nigel Vardy from Belper, Derbyshire, risked his life when he became trapped in temperatures as low as -60C while climbing in Alaska in 1999.

Having faced similar temperatures and blizzards this time round on the trip with friends, he said it had not put him from going on another sub-zero trek again.
