Migrating starlings descend on Stoney Middleton

More than 80,000 migrating starlings have descended on Derbyshire, creating beautiful murmurations in the sky.

The RSPB said birds form such patterns for safety, as predators find it difficult to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands.

They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information.
