Clacton gas explosion: House wreckage demolished
The remains of two homes destroyed in a gas explosion in Essex have been demolished.
The houses on Cloes Lane, Clacton, were "flattened" in the explosion about 08:30 GMT on Wednesday.
A man in his 70s and a woman in her 50s were badly burnt in the fire that followed. Both are now in a "stable" condition, Broomfield Hospital said.
Essex assistant chief fire officer Paul Hill said the power of the blast, which also damaged property in neighbouring streets, was "extraordinary".
