Clacton girl, 3, praised for life-saving 999 call
A three-year old girl who helped save her mother's life has been praised by emergency services for her quick thinking.
Sofia Harman called 999 immediately when her mother, Patricia, collapsed at the family home in Clacton, Essex.
The mother, who suffers from a rare medical condition which affects her heart, had already told her daughter what to do in the event of an emergency.
Essex Police presented Sofia with a bravery certificate. Call handler Julie Buckley, who took Sofia's call, said: "For a child of her age, it was amazing that she knew exactly what to do."
During the phone call, Sofia told Ms Buckley that her mum had fainted and fallen on the floor.
Deputy Chief Constable Matt Horne said: "We are all very proud of Sofia and our emergency operator Julie.
"Sofia, having just turned three years old knew exactly what to do when her mum collapsed - this is because her mum took the time to explain and teach Sofia this important life skill."
