HMP Chelmsford let down Craig Royce, who died in jail, says mother

The mother of a man who took his own life in HMP Chelmsford says she feels let down by the service.

Father-of-two Craig Royce, 46, was found in his cell on Christmas Eve.

His life had spiralled out of control after the death of his brother and sister - and he'd experienced psychotic episodes after smoking cannabis.

On Christmas Eve, he was found in his cell at Chelmsford prison. His mother says he killed himself - and had warned her he would do it. An inquest is due to take place later this year.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Essex, his mother Janet, says she thought he was safe.
