Van set on fire on driveway in arson attack in Brightlingsea

Police have released video footage of two vans that were set on fire on the same night in deliberate attacks.

The incidents happened on 16 August 2023 in Brightlingsea.

Essex Police were called after a fire broke out in a vehicle on a driveway on Red Barn Road, where a doorbell camera on the property filmed a man near the van moments before the blaze started.

Police arrested Todd Colbourne, 32, shortly after receiving reports of a second vehicle on fire at a nearby address.

Colbourne, of Dean Street, Brightlingsea, pleaded guilty to 18 charges at Chelmsford Crown Court, including two counts of arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered, five counts of arson, as well as various theft and attempted theft charges.

His sentences are to run concurrently and he was sent to prison for six years.
