Southsea's South Pier closure partially lifted

Barriers have been put up outside the entrance to an historic Hampshire pier after it was deemed at risk of collapsing.

Surveys of Grade II listed South Parade Pier in Southsea revealed the steelwork holding it up had corroded and it was a danger to the public.

An emergency meeting earlier lifted the cordon on the esplanade to some small businesses at the front of the pier.

But the rest remains closed for business as BBC South Today's Chris Robinson discovered.
