Note found in World War One kilt

A hidden poem from a Glasgow woman has been found sewn into the folds of a World War One kilt owned by a Southampton academic.

The kilt was handed down through the family of Dr Helen Paul, an economic historian at the University of Southampton.

Prof Maria Hayward, a textiles expert at the university, said she had not come across anything like it before.

Dr Paul is now trying to find information about the woman who wrote the note.
