Alexandra Hospital emergency department 'should stay'

An independent review panel has recommended Redditch Alexandra Hospital should retain a 24-hour accident and emergency department.

A report backed the creation of an 'emergency centre' for ambulance admissions which would see seriously ill patients referred to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Maternity and children's services at the Alexandra could also be downgraded under the new proposals and centralised at Worcester.

BBC Midlands health correspondent Michele Paduano reports.
