Old Betteshanger colliery 'to produce green energy'

The site where Kent's biggest colliery stood will undergo a £40m redevelopment and produce "green energy" under plans unveiled by its present owner.

Betteshanger was the last of the county's collieries to close, in 1989.

Hadlow College has unveiled plans to build a business and commerce park and education centre on the site, which it says will create hundreds of jobs.
