Rochester and Strood by-election vital, prime minister says

David Cameron has said the Conservative Party will meet the threat from UKIP in the South East head-on as it campaigns for a by-election in Rochester and Strood.

The by-election was triggered by the decision by Mark Reckless MP to switch from the Tories to UKIP.

The prime minister, who also spoke about the migrant situation in Calais, told BBC South East Today presenter Polly Evans that his party was looking to secure the best possible candidate for a vital election campaign.
