Red Arrows ejection seat was "entirely useless", coroner concludes

An inquest into the death of a Red Arrows pilot has concluded that parts of an ejection seat he was using were "entirely useless".

Flt Lt Sean Cunningham died when he was ejected 300ft into the air from his stationary aircraft at RAF Scampton on 8 November 2011.

Delivering his conclusion, coroner Stuart Fisher said he died because of problems with the seat's firing handle and the parachute failing to deploy.
