Plans for hub airport alternatives to Heathrow announced
London Mayor Boris Johnson has pulled back further from his idea for a new airport on an island in the Thames Estuary, admitting it would be too far from central London.
He gave three proposals to a government commission including suggestions for a hub in Kent and expanding Stansted in Essex.
But he emphasised adding a third runway at Heathrow - would be "crackers".
BBC London's transport correspondent Tom Edwards spoke with the mayor, to Peter Morris, the chief economist from Aviation experts Ascend, and Martine McCaffery from The Achor pub in Stanwell Moor near Heathrow.
