The Beckenham beginnings of David Bowie

A new biography written by David Bowie's former lover claims that the Brixton-born star owes his success to the town of Beckenham.

Mary Finnigan met Bowie in 1969 after hearing him playing music in a neighbours flat and invited him to move in with her in south-east London.

BBC London's Sarah Harris met Ms Finnigan during a visit back to Beckenham to discuss her life with the man who became Ziggy Stardust.
