Manchester allergy study reaches 18 year milestone

A study into allergies involving more than a 1,000 babies born at two hospitals in Greater Manchester has come to an end as its subjects reach 18-years-of-age.

The 1,184 babies in the study were born at the Wythenshawe and Stepping Hill hospitals in 1996.

Researchers have been studying them since birth, collecting more than 4,000 pieces of information about each child.

The project has developed a new test for peanut allergy as a result of the data collected.
