DNA hope over medieval Norton Priory skeletons

Scientists are hoping the latest DNA techniques will shed new light on the health and family relationships of people in medieval times.

Norton Priory in Runcorn has been awarded a grant to investigate why six skeletons, unearthed there in the 1970s and 1980s, all have the same bone disease and if they are all from the same family.

They have discovered more than 100 skeletons buried at Norton Priory over the years.

A research grant means they can take a much closer look at some of them.
