Widow of PC Dave Phillips pays tribute to 'kind, genuine' man
The widow of a police officer who died when he was run over by a stolen pick-up truck during a chase has said he was a kind and genuine man.
Car thief Clayton Williams, 19, has been convicted of the manslaughter of PC Dave Phillips, 34, who was struck in Merseyside in October.
Pc Phillips was crouching on the kerb deploying a stinger device when Williams mounted the central reservation and hit him.
Williams was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter and ordered to serve 20 years, initially, in a young offenders institution.
Speaking outside Manchester Crown Court, Jen Phillips said her husband was targeted because of his uniform.
