Families stage 'gingerbread men' protest after NHS deaths report

A "gingerbread men" protest to highlight the deaths of people with learning disabilities has been held outside an NHS England office in Oxford.

The demonstration was staged by Sarah Ryan, whose son Connor Sparrowhawk died at a facility in Oxford run by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

His death triggered a national report into the way the trust investigated deaths of people with learning disabilities.

Ms Ryan said the display of 337 hand-made figures represented the "bright and colourful people" with learning disabilities who died while in Southern Health's care.
