RNLI warning after pier-cling rescue near Weston-super-Mare

The RNLI has warned of the danger of swimming in sea after two people were rescued from the Bristol Channel.

The pair, from Sutton Coldfield, were found clinging to derelict Birnbeck Pier near Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday.

Helmsman Terry Wells said the "very rapidly" flowing water could have put them in "serious danger" and advised the public not to swim in the channel.
