Former pit near Barnsley home to five owl species
A former pit near Barnsley which was turned into a country park two years ago has become home to all five species of British owls.
The Land Trust, which owns Rabbit Ings Country Park, said bird lovers and photographers have been travelling from all over the country to see the new residents.
The 66-hectare (163-acre) park was built on the former colliery yard and spoil heap of the Monckton Colliery and the Royston Drift Mine, which closed in 1989.
