Ipswich super-strength drink campaign hailed a success

A year ago, Ipswich introduced a new method of tackling anti-social drinking in public.

Shops in the Suffolk town, including several major chains, stopped selling super-strength beers and ciders.

Twelve months on, police have hailed the campaign as a huge success and say that the number of people drinking on the streets has halved and anti-social behaviour significantly reduced.

Michael Buchanan reports.
